Hi there! I am Courtney Guy. I grew up traveling in a military family (go Air Force!) but consider Yorktown, Virginia my hometown. I completed my bachelor's degree at James Madison University with a major in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and a minor in Elementary Education (K-6) with a concentration in Math and Science. I also earned my master's degree in Education from JMU. I began my career as a fourth grade teacher in Orlando, Florida, but quickly grew such an immense passion for teaching math that I knew I belonged in a middle school math classroom. In my free time, I love exercising, watching football and baseball, spending time with loved ones, and playing with my two English Bulldogs. I have an undeniable love for education, and have known I was meant to be a teacher since I was a young girl. The students' imaginations are endless and their curiosities unlimited, and I love the experience of seeing their minds grow. It is my goal to get students to love math, and understand how often it is used in day-to-day life and within every career. I want to challenge them to think outside the box to solve problems, find strategies that make sense to their individual minds, and increase their perseverance. I look forward to a lifetime full of both teaching and learning from children.
